Cleaning Acrylic

Caring for Your Acrylic

To keep your acrylic sheet looking its best, wash it gently with a mild soap or detergent and plenty of lukewarm water. Use a clean, soft cloth and apply only light pressure to avoid scratching the surface. Rinse thoroughly with clean water and blot dry with a damp cloth or chamois.

For tougher stains such as grease, oil, or tar, use a high-quality solvent like hexane, aliphatic naphtha, or kerosene. These products are typically available at paint or hardware stores. Be sure to follow the manufacturer’s safety and usage instructions. If any oily residue remains, promptly remove it with soap and water.

Avoid Using:

Window cleaning sprays

Kitchen scouring pads or powders

Harsh solvents like acetone, gasoline, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, or lacquer thinner

These substances can damage or discolor your acrylic sheet.

Preventing Dust and Static:
Acrylic sheets can attract dust due to static electricity. To reduce this, apply an anti-static cleaner such as Novus #1 Clean & Shine, available at A-1 Acrylic’s.
